Massive transit-oriented housing project in Elyria-Swansea could build 560 homes near stock show

Plans for the first major transit-oriented housing development along the coming North Metro Line in Denver have grown to include up to 560 units of condos, apartments and other housing. The massive mixed-income project will be situated within blocks of the National Western Stock Show complex. The first of several phases could break ground next year.

2016 New-Home Sales Near Decade-Long High

New-home sales posted a strong rebound in 2016, the latest data release from the Commerce Department shows. Sales of newly built single-family homes increased 12.2% in 2016 year over year, reaching 563,000 units. That is the highest annual rate since 2007.

Pace quickens for Denver home-resale price gains

Home-resale prices in metro Denver grew faster in November, both from a year earlier and from the previous month, according to the latest S&P/Case-Shiller Home Prices Indices report. The rate of annual price gains continued to outpace all but two other U.S. cities. Metro Denver saw home-resale prices rise by 8.7% in November from the same month a year earlier, up from the 8.3% year-over-year increase in October, the report said.

More Consumers Might Buy If They Knew This

Confusion over down payment requirements is hindering some consumers’ confidence about buying a home. For the past three years, the median down payment for first-time buyers has been 6% and 14% for repeat buyers. Yet, when consumers are asked about the down payment amount they need to buy, 87% of non-owners say that a down payment of 10% or more is necessary.
